Lark
Unlimited Inc. is a company devoted to communications convergence
integration consulting.
Fred’s focus is on integrating his over 40 years of broadcast
experience and 30 years of satellite communications into a vital
combination for you and your business or family’s safety, security
and survival in today’s ever-changing world.
Alaska!
It conjures up pictures of a vast wilderness with magnificent
and dangerous animals, the incredible beauty of Mt. McKinley and
mountain ranges complete with glaciers millions of years old,
fishing (whether inland or sea) unparalleled in the world,
mountain lakes too numerous to count, remoteness, space to spread
your wings where your nearest neighbor might be hundreds of miles
away and where the main mode of travel is either a bush or float
plane…All these reasons, and more, brought us “North to the Future”….Alaska…
This
trip was inspired by a combination of unique factors. First, an
invitation for Fred (a veteran pilot of over 30 years plus communications
expert of over 40 years) to kick off the Alaska Aviation Conference
and Trade Show in Anchorage on May 17 and 18, 2003 with his straightforward
presentation on “Satellite Phone Communications for Safety, Security
and Survival”. Over
15,000 pilots and aviation enthusiasts were able to learn more
about this vital communications tool—whether it was used in a
car, plane, boat, for business, hiking, outfitting, fishing, mountain
climbing,…well, you get the idea.
On
to Talkeetna, Alaska! This phase of the trip had a dual purpose--to
interview author Mary Carey, one of Alaska’s original pioneer
women. Talkeetna
is also the “jumping off” point for Mt. McKinley climbing expeditions
where each aviation company was given a presentation on satellite
telephone communications for safety, security and survival. The
trip culminated with a HISTORY-MAKING EVENT—THE FIRST SATELLITE
TELEPHONE LIVE ON LOCATION REMOTE BROADCAST OVER RADIO STATIONS
IN THE LOWER 48 FROM BASE CAMP OF MT. MCKINLEY.
What an awesome experience to have flown through some of
the most rugged mountain terrain in the world up to Kahiltna Glacier
to catch a small part of the mountain climbing enthusiasm and
share it with the world!
As
for Lynnette (photojournalist, adventurer, writer, pilot) whose
love of aviation began on a flight in a DeHavilland Beaver float
plane in Ketchikan, Alaska in 1998, the other highlight of the
trip was taking a float plane lesson at Lake Hood, Anchorage!
It
is a privilege to be able to travel together and share our love
of adventure with others.
A vital part of our equipment is the satellite telephone
because it gives us the confidence and capabilities to do what
we love because of the safety, security…and yes, the survival
aspects as well.
More
adventures to come…and,
MAY
YOUR LIFE BE AN ADVENTURE EVERYDAY!!!!!:-)
